Unlike his moderate brother, the fifth Imam, Muhammad al-Bakir, Zayd attempted to seize power from the Umayyad dynasty to the Shiites through active political activities. He moved from Medina to Kufa, the home of the Shiites, to recruit comrades and launch a rebellion there in 740, but it was suppressed a few days later and he was killed in battle. …
