The Oirat people wrote their language in the Todo script (meaning "clear" script, a slightly improved Mongolian script) invented in 1648 by the Khoshut monk Zaya Pandita, and this script is still used by the Oirat people living in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region of China.
