Izumi Motohide

1937-1995 A Noh and Kyogen performer from the Showa to Heisei eras.
Born on July 18, 1937. Eldest son of the 9th Miyake Tokuro. In 1943, he was adopted into the Yamawaki Izumi family and became the 19th head of the Izumi school. In 1991, he completed the performance of all 254 current Izumi school plays. He also performed many new Kyogen plays and overseas performances, including a Kyogen version of Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" which was performed in England. He is a holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property (comprehensive designation). He passed away on June 30, 1995. He was 57 years old. He was born in Tokyo. His real name was Yamawaki Yasuyuki.

昭和12年7月18日生まれ。9代三宅藤九郎の長男。昭和18年山脇和泉家の養子となり,和泉流19代をつぐ。平成3年和泉流現行254曲の完演を達成。シェークスピアの「じゃじゃ馬ならし」を狂言にしたてイギリスで上演するなど,新作狂言の上演や海外公演も多数おこなった。重要無形文化財(総合指定)保持者。平成7年6月30日死去。57歳。東京出身。本名は山脇保之。
