〘Noun〙 A name for a woman with "o" at the beginning, such as "Oume" or "Otake." The names of prostitutes such as "Oume" or "Otake" that are not stage names, especially in brothels. It is also often used as an amateur name after retiring from prostitution. An "onoji" name. *From the "Sakehon" Kokei Sansho (1787) "Among the three-character names for prostitutes, there are some with the character "ono" in them."
