Tagarasuura

Japanese:
Tagarasuura
This is a settlement facing Tagarasu Bay in Wakasa Bay, which is currently Tagarasu, Obama City, Fukui Prefecture. In the Middle Ages, it was often written as Takarasu, but in the early modern period, it was written as Tagarasu. It is said that in the early Kamakura period, the Hata clan, who migrated from Hirugaura in Miminishigo (Mihama Town, Fukui Prefecture), developed it with the support of Inaba Tokisada, who was the guardian of Wakasa Province. Later, Mongaku of Jingoji Temple made it part of Nishizu Manor (present-day Obama City) of the temple's territory, and it was called Nishizunokata Manor. After that, it became the territory of Gotoba-in for a while, but after the Jōkyū War, it was restored to its original state, and the vassals of Tokusō of the Hojo clan held the position of land steward, and the peasants of the ura paid the lord and land steward the costs of ura vegetables, official duties, and Yamate salt. The Hata clan inherited the positions of sword priest and guardian deity negi (chief priest), and served as village headman during the Edo period. Residents have been engaged in net fishing since ancient times, and in 1273, together with neighboring Kumbeura to the north, the lord of the area granted them the right to engage in yellowtail net fishing by a meeting of farmers. Disputes also arose between Takuura and Kumbeura. The shipping industry was also thriving, and in 1272, a ship called Tokumasari, which is thought to have been owned by the Hata clan, was awarded a pass-shipping flag by the shogunate. At the end of the Middle Ages, a so (sō) was formed, centered around the Otonashū (chief retainers), and fishing grounds were shared and used in rotation. In the Edo period, Tagarasuura was divided by the Tagarasu River into Tagarasukita, Tsurube, and Tangyo in Kita-Tagarasu, and Tagarasuminami and Sunoura in Minami-Tagarasu. Salt fields have been developed in Tsurube, Tangyo, and Sunoura since the Middle Ages, and disputes arose frequently between the northern and southern Tagarasu over access to the mountains for fuel for salt production. There was a dispute over Amitate over the neighboring Yashiroura and Nagozaki.
