Wind band

…Military bands meant military bands, and also meant the brass band with the addition of woodwind instruments, i.e., wind bands. Today, wind bands are simply called bands or wind bands. In the United States, bands with wind instruments became popular at the end of the 19th century, starting with street marches and dance music, and eventually giving birth to jazz.
