Born on April 14, 1866. At the recommendation of his older brother, Yukichi Fukuzawa, he became a cowboy at the Makomanai Farm in Sapporo. He studied in America, and in 1897, he started selling milk and making butter in Sapporo. In 1925, he founded the Hokkaido Dairy Sales Association (now Snow Brand Milk Products). He passed away on March 1, 1940. He was 75 years old. He was born in Nakatsu, Buzen (Oita Prefecture). His maiden name was Takehara.
