1353‐1419 A scholar of the Goryeo and Yi dynasties of Korea. His pen name was Jaefu. His pen names were Jieun and Kim Osan-in. He was from Haepyeong, Gyeongsang Province. He was a disciple of Yi Saek, Jeong Mong-ju, and Kwon Geun, and studied Neo-Confucianism. He became a doctor of Sungkyun and devoted himself to education, even becoming a disciple's commentator, but returned home to care for his elderly mother. After the Yi dynasty came into being, he was repeatedly called to serve, but he refused, saying that he could not serve two dynasties, and instead taught the younger generation in Seonsan. The Sirin school of thought was established by his disciple Kim Suk-ja, who passed it on to Kim Jong-jik, Kim Hong-pil, and Jo Gwang-jo. He wrote the book Jieun-ju.
