The lineage of the outcasts in Europe, excluding the ancient world, can be traced back to the early Middle Ages, when they were called "Werwolfs." Werewolves were the name given to humans who committed crimes such as murder or arson at night that disturbed the peace of a clan group (Gype) and were banished from the clan group (Loss of Peace).
