History of Kaito

Japanese: 海東繹史 - かいとうえきし

This is a collection of 70 volumes and 26 books compiled by the Korean scholar Han Chi-pyeong (1765-1814) of the Yi Dynasty, who collected articles related to Korea from 545 Chinese and Japanese books. The collection is divided into 17 thoughts and considerations, including "Centuries," which describes the history of the Eastern barbarians and the period from the time of Dangun to Goryeo, and is said to be a major achievement of the Silgaku school during the reign of King Jeongjo. The sequel, "Thoughts on Geography," 15 volumes, was compiled from Han Chi-pyeong's posthumous manuscripts by his nephew Han Jin-se, and is highly regarded as a resource for geography research. 朝鮮，李朝の学者韓致奫（かんちえん）(1765‐1814)が中国，日本の書籍545部から朝鮮関係記事を集めて編纂した書籍。70巻26冊。東夷諸国と檀君時代から高麗までの歴史を述べた〈世紀〉をはじめ，全体を17の志･考に分け，引用文に考証と見解が加えてあり，正祖時代の実学派の一大成果といわれる。続編に，韓致奫の遺稿を彼のおい韓鎮書が編纂した《地理考》15巻があり，地理研究資料として評価が高い。【吉田光男】
