Abeno Shrine - Abenojinja

Located in Kitabatake, Abeno-ku, Osaka City. The shrine enshrines Kitabatake Chikafusa, who served Emperor Godaigo, and Kitabatake Akiie, who died an unfortunate death. The current shrine site is said to be the place where Akiie died in 1338 (Engen 3, Ryakuo 1) after fighting against the Ashikaga clan as the Shogun of the Chinjufu. In 1882 (Meiji 15), the shrine was designated a special government-sponsored shrine, and the main building was completed in 1887. The main building was burned down during World War II, but was rebuilt in 1956 (Showa 31). The annual festival is held on January 24th.

大阪市阿倍野(あべの)区北畠(きたばたけ)に鎮座。後醍醐(ごだいご)天皇に仕えた北畠親房(ちかふさ)、不遇の死を遂げた北畠顕家(あきいえ)父子を祀(まつ)る。現社地は、顕家が鎮守府将軍として足利(あしかが)氏と戦い、1338年（延元3・暦応1）に没した地と伝える。1882年（明治15）別格官幣社に列し、1887年に社殿竣工(しゅんこう)。第二次世界大戦で社殿を焼失したが、1956年（昭和31）に再建された。例祭は1月24日。
