Leptodactylidae

...The Ranidae family is a large terrestrial group of about 300 species, most of which have typical frog morphology, such as the Japanese pond frog, and many of them are ecologically similar. The Leptodactylidae family, which has about 840 species distributed in tropical America, includes large species such as the southern bullfrog Leptodactylus pentadactylus (body length 20 cm) and the horned frog Ceratophrys , but also small species such as the narrow-toed frog Eleutherodactylus , which is about 2 cm long.

…地上生で約300種の大きなグループであるアカガエル科Ranidaeは，日本産トノサマガエルをはじめ典型的なカエルの形態をもつものが大半で，生態的にも類似したものが多い。熱帯アメリカに840種ほどが分布するユビナガガエル科Leptodactylidaeは，ナンベイウシガエルLeptodactylus pentadactylus(体長20cm)やツノガエル類Ceratophrysなど大型種を含むが，体長約2cmのホソユビガエルEleutherodactylusなどの小型種も含まれている。
