In 1835, he fled to Switzerland after falling in love with Marie d'Agoult, Countess of the same name. While teaching piano at the Geneva Conservatory, he composed piano pieces such as the "Album of a Traveler" (1836) and "Etudes transcendentalis after Paganini" (1838). Liszt's first period was up to 1839, when he was with Marie, and he had three children with her, including Cosima (1837-1930, who later became the wife of H. von Bülow and then R.
