Industry newspaper - gyokaishi

Japanese:
Industry newspaper - gyokaishi

A specialized newspaper within a specific industry. It is often edited and published with the intention of targeting readers who are involved in that industry. While specialized newspapers can be classified as specialized newspapers for politics, economics, industry, book reviews, sports, education, etc., trade newspapers can be classified more specifically as industry-specific newspapers that handle information within each individual industry. They are sometimes called internal reports or internal reports. In English, they are called trade papers or business papers. They are published in various formats such as daily, weekly, seasonal, and monthly, and some are in the form of magazines that can be called industry journals.

In Japan, trade papers were born and developed around the 1890s along with the development of capitalism, but during World War II, newspaper controls were imposed in 1941 (Showa 16), resulting in a system of one newspaper per prefecture, and many of today's trade papers were launched after the war. The Japan Specialized Newspaper Association is an organization for trade newspapers, and as of January 2011 (Heisei 23), it had 95 member companies, but it is estimated that since the mid-1980s there have been more than 1,000 companies in Tokyo alone, making it extremely difficult to grasp the actual numbers and types.
