…A general term for four species of mammals in the Lobodontini tribe of the family Phocidae (pinnipeds), including the crabeater seal (Lobodon carcinophagus) , which is distributed in the Antarctic Ocean, the Weddell seal (Leptonychotes weddelli) , the leopard seal (Hydrurga leptonyx) , and the Ross's seal (Ommatophoca rossi) . Classified as such, all four species are close to the monk seal.
