Kaina
(A word formed by adding the moving final particle "na" to the final particle "kai")① Usage from the early modern period onwards. It expresses a feeling of wanting to confirm something with a sense of doubt. ※Joruri, Shinju Ten no Amijima (1720), Vol. 1 "They say that those who die within ten nights will attain buddhahood, but is that really true? "② (Abbreviation of "So kai na") Is that so? ※Kakuhon, Ukiyofuro (1809-13), Vol. 2 "'But you still say you're slender and slim, aren't you?' 'I don't know. I thought you were losing your cool because of the wind. '"
