A town in Teshio County in northern Hokkaido. The Soya Main Line runs through it. It occupies the plains downstream of the Teshio River, and part of it faces the Sea of ​​Japan. Agricultural production has increased with the development of the Sarobetsu wilderness in the northwest and the spread of dairy farming. In addition to floriculture, the town also has industries such as dairy products and chemicals. In 2005, the Sarobetsu wilderness became a Ramsar Convention registered wetland. 574.10 km2 . 2,677 people (2010).
