Cape Taito

Also written as Taito-misaki. A cape in the southeast of Chiba Prefecture, adjacent to the southern end of Kujukurihama. It belongs to Isumi City. A sea cliff made of Tertiary sandy tuff faces the Pacific Ocean, with a lighthouse at its tip. It is the northern end of Minami-Boso Quasi-National Park, and a hiking trail has been set up around the cape. On the three-hectare coast on the southern side of the cape, there is a coastal plant community that was designated as Japan's first natural monument in 1920 (Taisho 9). It is home to about 50 species of coastal plants, including black pine, Pittosporum tobira, camellia, and sea morning glory, but the vegetation range has been reduced due to coastal erosion.

太東岬とも書く。千葉県南東部、九十九里浜(くじゅうくりはま)南端に接する岬。いすみ市に属する。第三紀層砂質凝灰岩の海食崖(がい)が太平洋に面して続き、先端に灯台がある。南房総国定公園(みなみぼうそうこくていこうえん)の北端をなし、岬巡りのハイキングコースも設定されている。岬の南側3ヘクタールの海岸には、1920年（大正9）わが国最初の天然記念物の指定を受けた海浜植物群落がみられ、クロマツ、トベラ、ヤブツバキ、ハマヒルガオなど約50種が分布するが、海岸侵食のために植生範囲は縮小されている。
