Traumatic neurosis

Japanese: 外傷神経症 - がいしょうしんけいしょう（英語表記）traumatic neurosis

A general term for psychogenic neurotic states that arise as a result of trauma. Disaster neurosis is roughly the same, and when the onset of the condition is related to claims for compensation, compensation issues, pensions, etc. (the onset is motivated by the desire to receive large amounts of compensation or pensions), it is also called compensation neurosis or pension neurosis. Symptoms include anxiety, depression, hypochondria, and various physical complaints, and sometimes hysterical symptoms. However, some neurotic conditions that appear after head trauma may suggest the presence of subtle brain damage, and there are many cases in which it is difficult to determine that they are caused solely by psychological factors.

外傷を契機として生ずる心因性の神経症状態の総称。災害神経症もほぼこれと同じものであり，賠償要求や補償問題，年金などが発症に関係する場合(補償金や年金を多く獲得したいという願望が動機となって発症する)には，賠償神経症または年金神経症という呼称も用いられる。不安症状，抑鬱（よくうつ）症状，心気症状あるいは種々の身体的愁訴を示したり，ときにはヒステリー症状がみられたりする。ただし，頭部外傷後に現れる神経症状態の中には微細な脳損傷の存在が疑われることもあり，単に心理的な原因によってのみ生じたものと判断しがたい例も少なくない。
