A food chemical company whose predecessor was a pharmaceutical company founded by Suzuki Saburosuke (1867-1931) in 1888. Founded in 1909. In 1908, Ikeda Kikunae discovered monosodium glutamate as the true source of umami in kelp, and commercialized it to sell as the chemical seasoning AJI-NO-MOTO. After the war, the company developed a method to synthesize monosodium glutamate, and expanded into compound seasonings and food products. Currently, the company is expanding internationally from general foods to pharmaceuticals. Recently, the company has expanded its business in the amino acid and pharmaceutical businesses. In 2002, the company acquired the naming rights to Tokyo Stadium, and named it AJI-NO-MOTO Stadium. Headquarters in Tokyo, factory in Kawasaki, etc. Capital in 2011 was 79.8 billion yen, and sales in the fiscal year ending March 2011 were 1,207.6 billion yen.
