Sloaga
Spanish painter. Born in Guipúzcoa province in the Basque Country. He studied in Italy and France and was influenced by Impressionism. Later, he studied El Greco and Velázquez and discovered a new style. He revived the tradition of Spanish painting that had been halted since Goya, and painted Spanish landscapes and local customs in dark tones.
