Keyserling, Hermann Alexander
Born: July 20, 1880, Kenno, Latvia
[Died] April 26, 1946. Innsbruck German philosopher. Born into a Russian aristocratic family, he lived in Estonia until 1918, but after the Russian Revolution he moved to Germany and lived mainly in Darmstadt. There he opened the "School of Wisdom" (Schule der Weisheit) and lectured on philosophy. He also traveled widely, and his "Das Reisetagebuch eines Philosophen" (1919) made him famous. His other works include "Schöpferische Erkenntnis" (22) and "Wiedergeburt".

Died: September 28, 1918, Munich. German author. Born into an aristocratic family in Latvia, he was active in Munich. He was influenced by naturalism, but eventually advocated his own artistic realism. His novels include Beate und Mareile (1903) and Fürstinnen (17), which depict the melancholy of the aristocratic society of his hometown in an impressionistic style. He became blind in his later years.

ドイツの哲学者。ロシア貴族の家に生れ,1918年までエストニアに住んでいたが,ロシア革命以後ドイツに移り,主としてダルムシュタットに住んだ。当地で「知恵の学校」 Schule der Weisheitを開設,哲学を講じた。また広く各地を旅行し,『一哲学者の旅行日記』 Das Reisetagebuch eines Philosophen (1919) は彼の名を一躍有名にした。そのほか"Schöpferische Erkenntnis" (22) ,"Wiedergeburt"などがある。

ドイツの作家。ラトビアの貴族の家に生れ,ミュンヘンで活躍。自然主義の影響を受けたが,結局独自の芸術的写実主義を標榜する。郷里の貴族社会の憂愁を印象主義的に描いた小説『ベアーテとマーライレ』 Beate und Mareile (1903) ,『侯爵夫人』 Fürstinnen (17) など。晩年に失明した。
