[1] [noun] A roll of silk wound around a shaft. It is also called "koshizashi" because the recipient would wear it around their waist when they left the shrine. ※Azuma Kagami - 27 November 1193 (4th year of Kenkyu) "100 rolls of silk. 100 dyed silk" [2] Noh play. The fourth piece. Kanze, Hosho, Kongo, Kita school. Author unknown. A man who brought 1,000 rolls of silk from the capital to Kumano by imperial decree to present to the three Kumano shrines was late because he recited a song of offering at Otonashi no Tenjin Shrine on the way, and was punished by the Ason and tied up. Then Otonashi no Myojin appeared in the form of a shrine maiden, begged the Ason to untie the man's rope, spoke of the virtues of the song, and performed a Kagura dance.
