[Indian Rock Paintings]
A huge number of rock paintings are distributed in the mountainous areas of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh in central India. They were first discovered in 1899 by A. Calleyle and J. Cockburn in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. Since the 1970s, more have been discovered in the mountains around Bhopal, forming the world's largest group of prehistoric rock paintings.
