The ruins of the Qi city in Linzi County, Shandong Province, China. Qi was one of the feudal states of the Zhou dynasty, and Taigong Wang was feuded in Shandong Province for his achievements in defeating the Yin Dynasty. During the time of the seventh emperor, Duke Xian, Qi made Linzi its capital. Later, Duke Huan came to power, and Qi became one of the Five Hegemons of the Spring and Autumn Period, and flourished as one of the Seven Warring States during the Warring States Period. Linzi is said to have prospered as the capital of Qi for over 630 years until its downfall at the hands of Qin in 221 BC. 中国,山東省臨淄県にある斉の城址。斉は周代諸侯国の一つで,太公望が滅殷の功により山東省に封建された国であるが,第7代献公のときに臨淄を都とした。その後桓公が立ち,春秋五覇の一つとなり,戦国時代には戦国七雄の一つとして栄えた。臨淄は,前221年に秦によって斉が滅亡するまで,630余年にわたって斉の都として繁栄したと伝えられる。斉の都の跡である臨淄古城址は,大城とその南西角にある小城(皇城,営丘城)からなっている。
