modulation noise

Japanese: modulation noise(英語表記)modulationnoise
modulation noise

...phaseIn audio equipment, this name is given to a key or switch that inverts the phase of the signal of one channel to match the polarity of the stereo channels. Modulation noiseThis is noise that occurs in conjunction with a signal. During tape recording, amplitude modulation noise occurs due to unevenness in the magnetic layer of the tape or fluctuations in the contact state between the head and the tape, and frequency modulation noise occurs because the tape vibrates slightly in the direction of tape travel. The latter type of noise can be reduced by placing a filter made of a metal roller that absorbs the vibrations just before the head.
