This is the diary of a nobleman in the mid-Heian period. The author was Minamoto no Toshifusa (1035-1121). The title is derived from the radical "Minamoto" and the "Sa" (left) of the left minister. It is also called "Doki" or "Dosa-ki" because of the family name Tsuchimikado, which had been used since his father Morofusa, and "Horikawa Safu-ki" because of the location of his residence. The contents of the diary span from 1062 (Kōhei 5) to 1086 (Ōtoku 3), but there are also some fragments from 1107-1108 (Kasho 2-Tennin 1) included in the Burui-ki. Toshifusa was the great-grandson of Emperor Murakami, and was well versed in academics and was familiar with the ceremonies and government affairs of the Imperial Court. This diary often cites precedents, making it a valuable diary for learning about the court etiquette and customs of the time. The seven volumes in total, namely, two volumes of the Kohei 7th Year (1064) Record, two volumes of the Joryaku 4th Year (1080) Record, one volume of the Spring and Summer Record for the First Year of the Eiho (1081) Record, one volume of the Shoryaku 1st Year (1077) Record, and one volume of the Eiho 1st Year Autumn and Winter Record in the Sonkeikaku Bunko, are handwritten originals written in the Guchu-reki. In addition to being included in the Enlarged Historical Materials Collection, there is also a two-volume reproduction of the Kohei 7th Year Record (published in 1954 and 1955) by the Imperial Household Agency Archives and Mausolea Department.
