…An infectious disease caused by the mumps virus. It is also called mumps, and is commonly referred to as "mumps" because the parotid glands become swollen and the face becomes distinctive. This virus belongs to the Paramyxovirus genus, has a diameter of 85 to 300 nm, and is transmitted by droplet infection from person to person.
