Waterbury

A city in the western part of Connecticut, USA. It is located on the banks of the Nogatuck River, about 70 km upstream from the river's mouth. It was first settled by 31 families in 1674, and in the late 18th century it became a production center for handmade clocks by artisans. Modern industrialization has progressed since the 19th century, and it is now the center of brass manufacturing in the USA. It is the core city of the Nogatuck Metropolitan Region, known for its diverse industries. Industries in this region include rubber products, watches, chemical products, electronic parts, machine tools, and plastics. There are numerous recreational facilities in the surrounding area, and the city is blessed with nature. Population: 110,366 (2010).
