NED - New Eden
(Abbreviation for A New English Dictionary on Historical Principles) One of the leading English dictionaries. Published by Oxford University Press from 1884 to 1928. Provides explanations of word meanings from a historicist perspective. In 1933, it was renamed the OED (Oxford English Dictionary).
