Nettle-tree

...The stems of the nettle are strong and can be used to extract fibers. The closely related genus Dendrocnide (nettle tree) is found in Southeast Asia and Western Polynesia, and grows to heights of about 5 to 15 meters. Some species have stinging hairs on the young branches, and the natives are well aware of this property and never climb nettle trees.
