The central area of Ago Town, Shima City, in the central eastern part of Mie Prefecture. Formerly Ugata Town. A farming and fishing village located at the back of Ugataura Bay in Ago Bay, Shima Peninsula. The area is connected by the Kintetsu Shima Line and national highways 167 and 260, and in recent years has seen remarkable development as a base for tourism in Okushima.
