Hopscotch - Ishikeri

Japanese: 石蹴り - いしけり
Hopscotch - Ishikeri
A general term for a game played by kicking stones. The names and methods of playing hopscotch vary depending on the era and region, but the ways of playing can be roughly categorized into the following three types. (1) Draw squares on the ground, such as four or six squares, draw a line in front of them, kick a stone from the front into the first square, hop on one foot into the square, and kick the stone out in front of the line. If successful, proceed to the second square. The first player to conquer all the squares wins. (2) Throw a stone into the first square, kick it with one foot and proceed to the next square, and the first player to pass all the squares wins. (3) After throwing a stone into the first square, skip the square and hop on one foot into the next square, go around all the squares, then enter the square with the stone, and either kick the stone out or pick it up to exit the square. The number and shapes of the plots drawn on the ground vary, but the basic shapes are rectangles, circles, triangles, spirals, courses, etc. These can be arbitrarily combined to create more complex plots. Hopscotch is a classic game enjoyed by children in both the East and the West. In Europe, the basic hopscotch plot is a semicircle drawn on top of six plots, depicting a basilica, an architectural style of early Christian churches. Hopscotch is called "Paradise" in Italy, "Place of Chapel" in Scotland, and "Heaven and Hell" in Germany, which shows the deep connection of this game to Christian culture.
