1886‐1961 American Major League Baseball player. His real name was Tyrus Raymond Cobb. He was born in Georgia. He played as an outfielder for the Detroit Tigers from 1905 to 1926, and was the American League's batting champion 12 times. He was called the most aggressive player, with his powerful hitting and spirited base running, treating the baseball stadium as a "battlefield." He was equally popular with Babe Ruth, who was known as the home run king of the time, and he was responsible for the rise of Major League Baseball and built its golden age.
