1904‐1997 German philosopher and Catholic thinker. Born in Münster. Studied philosophy, sociology and law at the University of Münster. Initially, he aimed to be a writer and essayist, but after World War II, he became professor of philosophical anthropology at the University of Münster. His famous essay on leisure, Christian themes such as faith, hope, love and sin, excellent introductory books on Plato, Thomas Aquinas and scholastic philosophy, and essays on Goethe, demonstrate his consistent attitude of always striving to enrich and inherit the spiritual traditions of Europe.
