Orange [river] - Orange

Japanese: オレンジ[川] - オレンジ

A large river in southern Africa. It originates in the Drakensberg Mountains, flows west through South Africa, and empties into the Atlantic Ocean at the border with Namibia. Its largest tributary is the Vaal River. Its total length is 2,100 km. Its drainage basin covers most of South Africa. A long-term plan for the development of the Orange River was launched in 1962, and construction of dams and power stations is underway.

アフリカ南部の大河。ドラケンスバーグ山脈中に発し，南ア共和国内を西流し，ナミビアとの境界をなして大西洋に注ぐ。最大の支流はバール川。全長2100km。南ア共和国の大部分を流域とする。1962年からオレンジ川開発の長期計画が発足し，ダム・発電所の建設が進められている。
