Gansu Yangshao Culture (English: Gansu Yangshao Culture)

Gansu Yangshao Culture (English: Gansu Yangshao Culture)
A Neolithic culture based on agriculture and animal husbandry that was distributed in the Gansu and Qinghai regions in northwestern China. JG Anderson, the discoverer of the Yangshao culture, discovered many ruins with painted pottery in the Tao River basin in Gansu Province and on the banks of the Xining River in Qinghai Province in the upper reaches of the Yellow River in 1923-24, and created a chronology of six periods in Gansu: the Qijia, Yangshao (Banshan), Machuan, Xindian, Siwa, and Shajing periods. This was the first chronology for the prehistoric period, and since the first three periods lacked bronze products, he placed them in the Late Neolithic or Chalcolithic Period, and since the last three periods were accompanied by bronze tools, he placed them in the Early Bronze Age.
