Yadegawa ruins - Yadegawa ruins

This is a pre-pottery period site located in Nobeyama, Minamimaki Village, Minamisaku District, Nagano Prefecture. It is located at the end of the Nobeyama Plateau, which spreads across the southeastern foot of the Yatsugatake Mountains, on the left bank of the Yade River, a tributary of the Chikuma River. Its altitude is over 1,300 meters. It was identified as Japan's first microlith culture site by Serizawa Chosuke in 1953 (Showa 28), and is well known in academic history. It was subsequently excavated four times, in 1954, 1963, and 1981, and many microliths, microlith cores, as well as carving tools, scrapers, and knife-shaped stone tools have been discovered. The artifacts were excavated from a depth of about 20 centimeters, and about 60 locations with artifacts of about 5 meters in diameter have been identified. Additionally, ruins mainly containing knife-shaped stone tools have been discovered in the Nobeyama Plateau area, making this one of Japan's largest collections of ruins, mainly from the end of the Pre-Pottery period.
