King of Norway (reigned 1015-1028) and saint. He aimed to unify the country through bureaucracy and Christianity, but was blocked by King Cnut of England and Denmark and died on the way. As the first saint in Scandinavia, he has many miracle stories and commemorative events, and St. Olav's Church in Trondheim has become a pilgrimage site.
