Petergof

...Petrodvorets (population 82,200) is the main site. Overlooking the Gulf of Finland, Petrodvorets, known for its fountains, was originally called Peterhof (Peter's Palace) in German, then Russified and named Petergof. Peter the Great's dream of creating something to rival the Palace of Versailles was realized over a period of 40 years during the reign of Empress Elisabeth Petrovna, with the help of architects from Leblon to Rastrelli (Figure).
