…An Edo period ukiyo-zoshi author. His real name was Murase Gonnojo, and he was commonly known as Shozaemon. He was from Kyoto. He was the owner of a Daibutsu-mochi shop that had been in business since the beginning of the Edo period. He wrote a Joruri piece around 1696, but in 1699 he published Actor's Review: Actor's Mouth Shamisen, and in 1701 he published Ukiyo-zoshi: Keisei-iro Shamisen, both from Hachimonjiya in Kyoto, and became active as a writer of hyōban-ki and ukiyo-zoshi.
