[Taste blindness]
There is no known case of taste blindness in which one of the four basic tastes cannot be detected. However, there are people who can detect the bitter taste of phenylthiocarbamide (abbreviated as PTC) and people who cannot detect it, and the latter are called taste blind. However, the thresholds for the four basic tastes do not change.
