Born: April 26, 1538, Milan Died: February 13, 1600. Italian painter and author from Milan. He studied under G. Ferrari and others. He painted the murals for the refectory of the Sant'Agostino Convent in Milan, as well as the Madonna and Child and the Pieta (Brera Pinacoteca). However, he became blind at the age of 33, after which he gave up his paintbrush and devoted himself to writing. His main works are Trattato dell'arte della pittura, scultura ed architectura (1584) and L'Idea del tempio della pittura (1990).
