A metaphor for the superior abilities of both father and son. It is often used in the titles of sports reports. It originates from the novel "Father and Son Hawk" by novelist Shimozawa Kan. The novel has Katsu Kaishu's father, Koyoshi, who was known as an unconventional scoundrel, as its protagonist, and depicts Katsu Rintaro (later known as Katsu Kaishu) in his younger days as he devotes himself to swordsmanship and Western studies, as well as the state of Edo at the end of the Edo period and the people of the city. Recently, it has come to be expressed as "parent and son hawk" rather than "father and son," and it is no longer gender-specific.
