Parent-child contract - Oyakokeiyaku

Japanese: 親子契約 - おやこけいやく

A father-son contract or family agreement regarding the transfer of management and support among family members in farming. In Japan's rural areas, since the mid-1960s, during the middle of the high economic growth period, there have been movements in certain areas where there are outstanding leaders at the municipal or prefectural level and many farmers respond to their guidance, to ensure a smooth transition of generations among farm households and to inject new vitality into family farming. This involves the father (current business owner/manager) and the son (successor) as the main parties in reaching an agreement or contract on one or all of the following matters: payment of labor compensation to the son and his wife, the division of responsibilities in certain departments, the succession of agricultural assets (farmland) and support for elderly parents, and the distribution of assets to children other than the successor (those planning to leave the family).

農家における経営移譲と親族間扶養に関する父子契約ないし家族協定。日本の農村では，高度成長中期にあたる1960年代の中ごろから，市町村･府県段階の卓抜したリーダーがいて，しかも多くの農家がその指導に呼応する特定の地域で，農家世帯の中に，世代交代を円滑に行い，家族農業経営に新しい活力を付与しようとする動きがみられる。それは，とくに父(現在の事業主･経営主)と子(後継者)をおもな当事者として，子やその妻などに対する労働報酬の支払，特定の部門の分担，農業資産(農地)の承継および老親扶助，後継者以外の子(他出予定者)への財産分配のような事項の一つないし全部について，合意･契約を結ぶことを内容とする。
