Born: November 23, 1465 in Kyoto [Died] March 26, 1489. Omi, Kagi The 9th Shogun of the Muromachi Shogunate (in office 1473-89). His father was Yoshimasa. His mother was Hino Tomiko. His wife was the daughter of Hino Katsumitsu. Before Yoshihisa was born, Ashikaga Yoshimasa had appointed his younger brother Yoshimi as his successor, but Tomiko wanted Yoshihisa to succeed him as Shogun and asked Yamana Mochitoyo to do so, which was one of the causes of the Onin War. In the middle of the war in Bunmei 5 (1473), he came of age and was appointed Shogoi no Ge, Sakonoe no Chujo, and Seii Taishogun. In the following year, he was promoted to Junior Fourth Rank, Lower; in the following year, he was promoted to Senior Fourth Rank, Councilor, and Provincial Governor of Mimasaka; in the following year, he was promoted to Junior Third Rank; in the following year, he was promoted to Senior Third Rank; in the following year, he was promoted to Junior Second Rank; in the following year, he was promoted to Gon Dainagon; in the following year, he was promoted to Junior First Rank; in the following year, he was promoted to Chief Ushioja, Chief Administrator of Junna Shogakuin and Ryoin Temples; in the following year, he was promoted to Ukon'e Taisho, and in the following year, he was promoted to Inspector of Umaryo. In the first year of Chokyo (87), he marched to Omi Province to subjugate Rokkaku Takayori. In July of the second year of Chokyo (889), he changed his name to Yoshihiro. In September of the same year, he was promoted to Minister of the Interior. In the first year of Entoku (89), he died of an illness while camping at Magari in Omi Province. His posthumous name was Jodo-in Doji Etsuzan. In the early years of his tenure as Shogun, he was under the guardianship of his father because he was still a child, but as he grew older, he showed enthusiasm for government affairs, loved the arts and sciences, and indulged in alcohol and women. He asked Ichijo Kaneyoshi about the key points of governing a country and was given the "Shodan Jiyo." His collection of poems is "Jotokuin-dono Goshu."
