His works on this subject include "Précis de stylistique" (1905) and "Traité de stylistique française" (2 volumes) (1909). Another of his achievements was the elaboration of his teacher Saussure's theory of synchronic linguistics ("Linguistique générale et linguistique française" (1932), but since the discovery of Saussure's unpublished manuscript, some doubts have been cast on Bailly's interpretation.
