Pronghorn family, order Even-toed ungulate. Also known as the pronghorn antelope. One family, one genus. Body length 1-1.5m. Reddish brown back, with white spots on the forehead, throat, under the eyes, and lower back. Both males and females have horns of about 25cm. Lives alone or in small groups in summer, and in herds of several hundred in winter. In late summer, males form harems of about 15 animals. Inhabits the broad grasslands and semi-desert areas of western North America.

偶蹄目プロングホーン科。エダツノレイヨウともいう。1科1属。体長1～1.5m。背が赤褐色で，額帯，喉，眼下，腰に白色斑がある。雌雄とも約 25cmの角をもつ。夏は単独または小群で，冬は数百頭の群れをなして生活する。晩夏になると雄は 15頭前後のハレムを形成する。北アメリカ西部の広い草原や半砂漠地に分布する。
