Pytheos

Japanese: Pytheos
Pytheos

...The city was surrounded by walls, neatly divided by roads that crossed at right angles. In the center was the agora (square), which was the center of civic life, and was surrounded by the town hall (Prytaneion), assembly hall (Bleuterion), and the temple of Zeus. Overlooking this center was the sanctuary of Athena, the city's patron goddess, on a higher level. The temple built there by Pytheos in 334 BC was highly regarded in later generations as a typical Ionic peripteral temple. On an even higher level was a theater with a two-tiered high stage (logeion) that could accommodate about 5,000 spectators, and on the opposite low ground, along the city walls, was a gymnasium (gymnasion) and a stadium (stadion).
