Takeo Ono
Born: August 1883, Oita, Momoe
[Died] June 1949
Historian and doctor of agricultural science. He moved to Tokyo in 1906 and, after much hard work, became a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics at Hosei University in 1926, later serving as professor, dean and director. During this time he participated in the founding of the Society for Social and Economic History, researching the history of agricultural economics and educating young people in rural areas. His main works include An Outline of the History of Japanese Villages (1936) and A Treatise on the History of Japanese Soldiers and Farmers (38). He also edited and compiled other books, including Sources on Local Economic Affairs in the Early Modern Period (31-32) and A Collection of Sources on Japanese Farmers (41, incomplete).
